Day 42 - Saturday, June 2, 2012
This week I've gotten my first taste of working from a cubical. It is quite different for someone who's workplaces have been factories, tool stores, and a room crammed with desks for naughty children. Everyone's cubical is different--some people it's just the bare minimum they need to get work done. For others, it's like a second house.
Anyways, at work there are a limited amount of shelving units for you to have to organize your things. Obviously this isn't mission critical type thing, but they are a nice enhancement for your space.
The other thing is, a lot of people, myself including, liked to have their monitors off the desk so they have more desk space. So I decided that I would build myself a shelf/monitor stand.
I think it turned out pretty well. Everything you see here was built from two boards, a 1"x12"x8' and a 1"x6"x4'. My 1"x12" board was pretty straight, but I did not look at my 1"x6, which was extremely warped. We ended up getting it to work (it's the back piece of the shelf.) I think it is pretty good. Now I just need to get the polyurethane on it and life will be good.
